Perfecting The Layout Of General-Purpose Stores
Although there are challenges in designing a layout for all types of retail-based business, for a single purpose outlet such as a clothing shop or cosmetics store the way in which you divide your area is fairly straightforward: with a limited range of products you can clearly arrange them by either type, colour or group items according to their range.
For multi-purpose companies such as newsagents or grocery stores, however, devising effective retail displays that promotes the sale of a wide range of varying items is an altogether greater task.
The key to maximising sales in a general-purpose store is simplicity: keep your items well arranged and clearly labelled.
There are two techniques in promoting sales for a wide range of items. The first is, as mentioned above, to come up with a clear overall layout that separates goods of a certain type into different sections. Shelves should also be well stacked with pricing so that the consumer is not overwhelmed in their search for goods.
The second method for generating income is the use of strategic retail display stands to promote certain products. For instance, a newsagent will sell many more newspapers and magazines if they are clearly visible on a magazine rack.
A point of sale display stand is also an extremely effective tool to prompt impulse purchases among shoppers queuing at the till, and you can rotate products each week.
At Green Room Retail, our team of retail experts can offer thorough advice in how best to fine-tune the layout of your store and use point of purchase techniques to generate greater sales.
